Repair of spokes and rim on Lightweight carbon wheels
Even Lightweight wheels, including broken spokes, are no problem for Doktorbike. This is what the bike wheel looked like before repair: two completely broken spokes and a crack in the rim. (photo 1). After rebuilding the spokes and the flange-hub in a mold, they are glued to the hub and pre-tensioned, then glued to the bike rim. This process was designed and tested by Doktorbike, and the final result is shown in the second photo.
MODIFIED SPECIALIZED EPIC
This frame was first repaired, then modified to accommodate 27.5 wheels, and finally completely repainted and reassembled, as can be seen in the photos.
The work took a long time, partly because it was done in my spare time, but the end result is very satisfying.
Aluminum or carbon?
I would like to get a front fork for marathon or amateur XC riding. I am just starting out with MTB, and given that there is little difference in price between aluminum (€1,300) and carbon (€1,500), I would like to take a chance.
For me, carbon is obviously a wonderful material. You can shape it however you want; the only limit is your imagination. In fact, all my bikes are made of carbon, but I understand that people may have doubts.
Carbon is more fragile in the event of an impact, as many already know, but, given that everything depends on the engine (the cyclist themselves), a carbon frame generally performs better than an aluminum one because it has characteristics of flexibility and rigidity that aluminum can never match for the same weight.
For a beginner, it is not so important to choose carbon or aluminum, but rather, if possible, to try out the bikes you are interested in, listen to the sensations they give you, and, of course, choose the one that gives you the best sensations.
I have a carbon fiber Sarto frame with a crack on the left chainstay. This crack is detached. I would like to know if it is possible to repair it.
Repair is possible, but it is difficult to provide an estimate without photos. Therefore, we advise the owner of this bike and any other users of the site not to use the FAQ form for such specific questions. To receive targeted and personalized answers, it is better to use the two appropriate forms, “request a free estimate” or “info,” where you can attach photos!
Where can I purchase cable guides and tension adjusters for the rear derailleur and front derailleur to fit on a carbon frame?
Where can I buy cable guides and tension adjusters for the rear derailleur and front derailleur to fit on a carbon frame? Who manufactures or sells them?
I usually build them myself for my bikes, but normally these accessories are sold by suppliers of tube kits for frame builders, such as DEDACCIAI, COLUMBUS, and AMADEUS.
